My approach involves addressing the connection between physical, mental, and emotional health. Some of the therapeutic methods I employ include cognitive behavioral therapy, psycho- dynamic theory, coping skills training, clinical hypnosis, relaxation/visualization techniques, art therapy, and creative journaling. I recognize the value of identifying and building upon strengths as well as addressing problem resolution. I believe it is vital for therapist and client to work together to assess deeper levels of issues and problems, monitor progress, and design pertinent assignments to work on between sessions.
I have worked in the mental health field since 1984 in a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, day treatment, hospital inpatient and partial programs, and residential treatment centers. I work with individuals, couples, and groups. Some of my group therapy topics have included stress management, self-esteem, art therapy, and “clutter-free.” I am a member of Minnesota Women in Psychology and Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
